Working with a proactive partner

What should your marketing partner notice before you ask?

A useful partner pays attention to how the work fits together and raises the things worth discussing.

You should be able to send a clear brief and trust that the work will move forward.

You should also have someone paying attention around the edges of that brief.

Perhaps a campaign is sending people to a page that answers a different question. A service has grown, but the website still gives it one sentence. An internal announcement is about to raise questions the team has not prepared for.

These are the kinds of connections a thoughtful partner should be looking for.

Get to know the context

It is difficult to spot what matters without understanding the business.

We want to know what you are working towards, what is changing and where the pressure is. We also need to understand the things that already work well, so we can build on them.

That knowledge develops through conversation and through doing the work together. It helps us ask more relevant questions over time.

Bring a useful recommendation

Noticing something is only the first step. The next is explaining why it matters and what could reasonably be done about it.

A useful recommendation should take your priorities and resources into account. You need enough context to weigh it up, including the effort involved and any assumptions that still need checking.

Sometimes the right response is a small adjustment. Sometimes it is a conversation about the next phase. There will also be ideas that can wait.

Keep the decisions collaborative

Being proactive includes knowing when to ask.

You understand circumstances we may not see, and you remain part of deciding what moves forward. Our role is to contribute perspective, flag opportunities or concerns and help you consider the options.

At POSTT, that is the kind of relationship we want to build. You should feel that we are engaged with the purpose of the work and comfortable enough with your team to raise a useful thought.

A good partnership gives you the benefit of another team paying attention.
